McCue vs. Southern Pacific Transportation Co. – Switchman injured when improperly maintained switch handle struck his head crushing the side of his face.
Quarterman vs. Southern Pacific Transportation Co. – Railroad carman injured lifting poorly maintained decks on automobile transportation cars, requiring back surgery.
Griswold vs. ATS&F – Engineer injured as a result of improper seat design.
Products Liability:
Shiley Heart Valve Cases – Represented approximately 45 victims of failures of prosthetic heart valves resulting in injuries and deaths. Plaintiffs from Sweden, Holland, England, Australia, and the United States. Later represented the Consummenten Bond- the Dutch consumer’s organization- in objecting to a heart valve class action settlement, later negotiated minimum compensation schedule for Dutch victims of valve failures.
Parker vs. Showa Denko K.K. – Represented victim of L-tryptophan induced eosinophilic fascitis that resulted in permanent disability.
Ropp vs. General Motor Corporation –Represented woman injured by sudden acceleration of her car as a result of defective transmission.
Zepeda vs. Marine Sheet Metal Corp. – Represented cannery worker whose hand was cut off by an improperly guarded egg dicer.
West and Mottel vs. Pfaudler Co. – Represented worker burned and the heirs of another killed by inadvertent release of hot brewing mash at a Miller Brewery in Irwindale, California.
Elser vs. Braun – Brewery worker burned when he fell into improperly guarded chip cooker.
